Version BETA 50

  • The measurement values of the DFT-Filter now match with the Not-DFT-Filters.

To top

Version BETA 49

  • Sampletime maximum changed to 240s for NON DFT mode (standard was 10s). MAXIMUM for DFT mode now is 5s. Dont use higher values in DFT mode otherwise you get wrong readings.

To top

Version BETA 48

  • MUCH faster display update on very fast sweeps (up to 100% faster).
  • Slight error in the 1Hz filter removed.
  • DDC sample timeout error removed. This should prevent the unit to switch off after a DDC timeout.

To top

Version BETA 47

  • Logger data is now accompanied by the sensor used during acquisition (magnetic field, e-field or analog input). Consequently, the LCS software can now automatically assign the corresponding unit, even if the sensor has been changed during recording.

To top

Version BETA 46

  • The logger now automatically saves measurement results as floats in order to be able to store even the smallest values. Frequency is rounded to increments of 1Hz.
  • E-field measurement accuracy has been improved.
  • Attenuator calibration accuracy has been improved.

To top

Version BETA 45

  • Added a new menu entry "MrkCnt", which allows setting the number of markers. A very handy feature when measuring only a specific signal on a single frequency and limiting the number of markers to "1", as this will remove any additional markers "jumping around". Possible values are 1, 2 or 3.

To top

Version BETA 44

  • Yet again improved accuracy of marker frequency display. In order to save memory, display will now ALWAYS occur with one decimal place.
  • Fixed overflow indicator "10001" related to markers.
  • The unit used to display marker data is now always identical to that used in the main display and adjusted automatically. For improved readability, the readout will now appear without decimal places.

To top

Version BETA 43

  • Enhanced USB protocol support.
  • Improved data acquisition from the optional 24bit extension for the static magnetic field sensor.
  • Fixed error in BETA 42's 3D mode.
  • Measurement with the optional static magnetic field sensor has been improved. When using small sweep times like 10ms, the time domain display will be turned off for faster display of results.

To top

Version BETA 42

  • Dramatically enhanced speed for the 3D sweep using the optional static magnetic field sensor.

To top

Version BETA 41

  • Measurement accuracy of the optional static magnetic field sensor has been drastically improved. The sensor is now automatically and instantly degaussed after each sweep. So far, degaussing only occured when turning on the device, which could cause silent, uncorrected magnetization of the sensor during measurement.

To top

Version BETA 40

  • A noticable delay during 3D measurement which occured since BETA36 (in non-DFT mode) has been fixed.
  • Sweep speed in 3D mode (non-DFT) has been improved yet again due to internal code optimization.

To top

Version BETA 39

  • Internal File-ID of the static sensor calibration data changed.

To top

Version BETA 38

  • Fixed an error in BETA36 and BETA37 related to reading the calibration data. SPECTRAN now again provides the usual accuracy.

To top

Version BETA 37

  • Attenuator accuracy has been improved.
  • Standard accuracy of the analog input has been improved.
  • Superfluous menu entry for sensor "BrdBnd" has been removed.

To top

Version BETA 36

  • Activation threshold for the automatic attenuator has been lowered.
  • Corrected a slight linearity error for the attenuators.
  • The entries "Write" and "PkHold" in the "Hold" menu have been replaced by "On" and "Off".
  • Safety measure: the attenuator is now in "Auto" mode by default. Should you wish to measure very weak fields in the future, you will need to manually set it to 0dB!

To top

Version BETA 35

  • Improved display speed and precision due to internal code optimization.
  • New DDC-controlled auto attenuator feature. By setting the "Atten" menu option to "Auto", the 10dB attenuator will be set automatically and switched to 20dB as needed. 0dB, 30dB and 40dB attenuators still need to be set manually due to safety concerns!
  • As soon as the attenuator is active, the status field will display "HIGH". ATTENTION: the status field will generally display "HIGH" when strong signal levels are encountered. If this occurs, you should manually activate an attenuator to avoid overload.
  • Implemented zero point calibration for MSta sensor. This allows for the optional static magnetic field sensor be calibrated and "zeroed" - for example, in our zero gauss chamber. As a result, you will be able to measure the real magnetic flux density instead of just a differential display.
  • Implemented saving and loading of floating point numbers. This change has been prompted by the extreme dynamic range of the device, especially for the logger.
  • "-1" overflow error related to marker display has been fixed.
  • Enhanced USB protocol for various features (MSta handling etc.).

To top

Version BETA 34

  • New: zooming via the jog dial.
  • Corrected an error in manual marker display via the jog dial.

To top

Version BETA 33

  • Enhanced and improved autorange feature, which now supports ALL available units. Selection has been rearranged into two menus as follows:
    • Unit sets the desired physical unit. Available choices are "Tesla", "Gauss" and "A/m". The units "Volts" (external SMA input) or "V/m" (E-field sensor), respectively, will be set automatically according to the sensor in use, as such they do not have seperate choices in the "Unit" menu.
    • UScale. The "Auto" option sets automatic selection of the prefix ("p", "n", "µ", "m", "k"). However, it is also possible to set a specific prefix. Possible choices are "p" (Pico), "n" (Nano), "µ" (Micro), "m" (Milli), "Unit" (base units WITHOUT prefix) and "k" (Kilo).

To top

Version BETA 32

  • 2D and ISOTROPIC (3D) display of measurement results is now available even in DFT mode, allowing complete flexibility in 3D measurement of magnetic fields.
Just like in standard mode, setting 1D, 2D or 3D measurement is accomplished via the key 8 (Dim).
When doing a 2D measurement, sweep speed is identical to that of a 1D measurement as the second DDC channel can be utilized.
In contrast, a 3D measurement will take twice the amount of time of a 1D or 2D measurement.

To top

Version BETA 31

  • New contrast setting. After navigating to the new "Bright" menu, display contrast can be continuously adjusted using the jog dial. The new setting will be saved permanently. "8888" will be displayed during adjustment as a test pattern.
  • Internal restructuring of the file system, freeing a few pages of program memory for future enhancements.

To top

Version BETA 30

  • The reference "max" level for autorange is now always devised from the real "max" level even if the manual marker is in use.

To top

Version BETA 29

  • New hotkey assignment. Key 8 has been reassigned the "dimension" setting (1D, 2D, 3D).
  • As from now, the keys are assigned as follows:
    • 1 = START frequency (entry can happen in Hz, kHz or MHz)
    • 2 = STOP frequency (entry can happen in Hz, kHz or MHz)
    • 3 = CENTER frequency (entry can happen in Hz, kHz or MHz)
    • 4 = SPAN (entry can happen in Hz, kHz or MHz)
    • 5 = RBW filter (currently, depending on model: 1Hz, 3Hz, 10Hz, 30Hz, 100Hz, 300Hz, 1kHz, 3kHz, 10kHz, 30kHz, 100kHz, 300kHz, 1MHz, 3MHz or 10MHz)
    • 6 = SAMPLE time (entry in ms or s)
    • 7 = SENSOR and AXES selection (depending on model: isotropic air-core coil (XY-Mag, YZ-Mag, ZX-Mag), isotropic static magnetic field sensor (X-MSta, Y-MSta, Z-MSta), E-field sensor (E-Fld), analog input (Analog)
    • 8 = DIMENSION setting (1D, 2D, 3D)
    • 0 = HOTKEYS (in the near future, you will find various presets for traction power, TCO, BGVB11 etc. right here)
  • CLR = Preset for a "default measurement": optimal settings for measuring the mains power magnetic field (50Hz or 60Hz, respectively)
  • Faster USB data transfer.

To top

Version BETA 28

  • Extreme speed-up of 2D mode (approx. 100%). The second DDC channel is now fully utilized, providing SIMULTANEOUS measurement and processing of two axes. Sweep times in 1D and 2D mode are now virtually identical.

To top

Version BETA 27

  • Added 3D mode for the regular sweep mode. This can be enabled in the new "Dim" (dimension) menu, where the available choices are:
    • 1D
    • 2D
    • 3D
    • Please note that this feature is currently not yet recognized in DFT mode. Also, total sweep time will naturally be slower in 2D and 3D mode, as the number of necessary sweeps will double or triple, respectively.
  • A new "MinMax" detector has been added. In the new "Detect" (detector) menu, you can choose between the default "RMS" detector and the "MinMax" detector. You can switch between the two modes at any time during a measurement by pressing the Shift key.
  • Auto reference level has been optimized: the spectrum display now automatically scales according to the last peak.
  • The "Disp" menu is now called "Hold". In addition, the "PkHold" entry has been renamed "On", while "Write" has been renamed "Off".
  • The "MPMode" menu has been renamed to "MrkDis" (marker display mode).
  • The "Marker" menu has been renamed to "MrkLvl" (marker level).

To top

Version BETA 26

  • Optimized internal calibration, providing an arbitrary number of reference points at arbitrary frequencies. This allows extremely accurate calibration, which now (almost) solely depends on the accuracy of the calibration equipment.

To top

Version BETA 25

  • Various calculations, including DFT, have been optimized, giving a very stable and reproducable display.
  • Due to various code optimizations, the noise floor could be lowered drastically. For example, a "0.000nT display" is now entirely possible even when using the CLR key (45-65Hz).
  • Enabled new 1Hz filter (only for 50xx series).

To top

Version BETA 24

  • Changed the offsets for base calibration of the 3D sensors (REAL 3D air-core coil and static magnetic field sensor)

To top

Version BETA 23

  • Enabled 24Bit option for the static magnetic field sensor. This option provides extremely high sensibility.

To top

Version BETA 22

  • The CLR key has been assigned new settings for "international" mains power (50Hz/60Hz), setting fstart to 45Hz, fstop to 65Hz, scale to linear, and Sampletime to 0.8s).

To top

Version BETA 21

  • Enabled sweeptime setting. This allows for DFT to be even faster than before when using extremely narrow filters of 1Hz or 3Hz. A really great feature for quick signal assessment. However, too short sweep times can obviously lead to wrong measurement data. To prevent unexperienced users from messing with these settings, the UNCAL display will appear as soon as the chosen sweeptime is too short.

To top

Version BETA 20

  • Program code for the DDC option (Option 005) has been optimized. This even slightly affects the noise floor - it is now YET a little bit lower, especially in the lower frequency ranges.

To top

Version BETA 19

  • Measurement display now also supports integers: for example, electrical fields of up to 9999V/m can now be displayed (used to be 999.9V/m max).

To top

Version BETA 18

  • Fixed spectrum display for a few SPAN settings.

To top

Version BETA 17

  • Added automatic contrast adjustment.
  • Corrected an error in the 300Hz filter.

To top

Version BETA 16

  • Adjusted calibration of the V/m display.

To top

Version BETA 15

  • Good news for all customers with DDC option: the SPECTRAN NF-5030 with DDC option (Option 005) now has an increased accuracy of up to 1pT (0.001nT) (formerly 1nT)!
  • Added an autorange feature for the reference level. Due to the vastly increased dynamic range of an NF-5030 with DDC option, manual adjustment can become pretty troublesome. Consequently, this new feature will automatically calculate the optimal reference level AFTER a sweep has completed. This new reference level will automatically be corrected as needed during the NEXT sweep. This practical feature can be activated in the "Reflev" menu by choosing the "Auto" setting.

To top

Version BETA 14

  • All units with prefixes "n", "µ" or "m" are now shown in lowercase letters. Formerly, only capital letters were being utilized.
  • Corrected a math problem in DDC programming.

To top

Version BETA 13

  • New "DFT" operation mode has been added. In contrast to FFT, DFT allows signal display WITHOUT the usual aliases encountered with FFT. DFT mode will be activated AUTOMATICALLY as soon as a 1Hz or 3Hz filter is selected in conjunction with a SPAN smaller than 200Hz. This new mode allows for a faster sweep when using the extremely small high-resolution 1Hz or 3Hz filters of the 50xx series.
  • "µT" is now displayed as "uT" instead of "UT".

To top

Version BETA 12

  • The display will now be buffered automatically when readouts or spectrum display results arrive too quickly, thusly always providing a usable and readable display.

To top

Version BETA 11

  • New hotkey assignment. As of now, keys are assigned the following functions:
    • 7 = SENSOR selection (depending on model: isotropic air-core coil, E-field sensor, isotropic HAL sensor, static magnetic field sensor, analog input.
    • 8 = VBW filter (currently, depending on model: 1Hz, 3Hz, 10Hz, 30Hz, 100Hz, 300Hz, 1kHz, 3kHz, 10kHz, 30kHz, 100kHz, 300kHz, 1MHz, 3MHz or 10MHz.)
    • 0 = HOTKEYS (in the near future, you will find various presets for traction power, TCO, BGVB11 etc. right here)
    • CLR = Preset for a "default measurement": optimal settings for simultaneous measurement of traction power (16.7Hz) and 50Hz/60Hz mains power.

To top

Version BETA 10

  • In order to display even very small level changes optimally, a logarithmic scale has been implemented in addition to the linear scale. This new scale can be selected at any time using the "RANGE" menu.
