Measurement 50HZ electric field using PBS-E1

Postby mrmc » Saturday 27. May 2017, 13:47

Hello,

I'm trying to measure a 50Hz electric field using the PBS-E1 and NF5035.
Using standard setup (button 2) with analog input and 20dB atten I get 150microV. Using the excel the freq MHz : 0,000050, V: 0,000025 the result in V/m is 6132481 (6132kV/m).
Using the internal E-field sensor the elctric field inetnsity is about 110-150V/m.
What I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

The Excell Calculator only works with 50 Ohm input, the NF-5030 offers a HIGH IMPEDANCE input so you cant use the Excell Sheet to calculate the electric field strength.

Thanks for reply,

Please let me know how can I calculate, in this case, the electric field strength using only the device.

Thanks

You need a impedance match so you need to add one of our low frequency amplifiers http://www.aaronia-shop.com/products/br ... f-preamps/

Let's put it together all info:
I need to measure electric field strength>50kV/m. To do this is enough to have: NF5030,PBS-1 , UBBV-NF 25 and Aaronia excel. I'll be able to do this without using MCS, just analog input and the conversion from excel.
It'is correct what I said or I need more devices?

Thanks

The NF-5030 offers no dBm readings for the analog input so you cant use the Excell conversion which is based on dBm.

Thanks for reply,

But how can I measure with NF5030 an electic field strength about 60kV (at 50Hz) ?

Thanks

You could "calibrate" the external probe with the internal E-Field Sensor.
E.g. measure 1000 V/m with the internal probe. Then locate the external probe at the same location and check the Volts reading.
Do the same with 2000 V/m etc.
Then you get a nice linear conversion table which you can use for much higher readings e.g. 50kV/m with the external probe.

Ok, I understand what are you saying, but Aaronia doesn't provide any "ready to use" solution ofr using NF5030 with PBS1 probes?

Thanks for reply, but there is something I get rid of.
So, my issue is:
I want to measure 50Hz electric and magnetic filed, using analog input and get the results in V/m and T.
So far I understand that I need : NF503X, PBS1 and UBBV-NF-25.
How can I use them to get values in V/m for electric filed strength and in T for magnetic ones?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Just as mentioned before: Construct a conversioin table.
